    About the Trail

    Reykjadalur (Steam Valley) is one of the few places in Iceland where you can bathe in a natural hot river without paying an entrance fee. The hike begins with a steady uphill climb from Hveragerði, passing the dramatic Djúpagil canyon and numerous steaming vents. The reward at the top is a warm river with wooden boardwalks where hikers can change and soak in the thermal waters surrounded by nature.

    Getting There

    Located in the town of Hveragerði, just 45 mins from Reykjavik. Drive through the town following signs for 'Reykjadalur'. There is a paid parking area (EasyPark app) with a café at the trailhead.
