Glymur Waterfall
Hard
West / Hvalfjörður
A thrilling loop to Iceland's second-highest waterfall
About the Trail
Glymur was long considered Iceland's highest waterfall until 2011. The hike to reach it is as spectacular as the falls themselves. The trail takes you through the 'Þvörttuboli' cave and requires a fun river crossing on a log (available in summer). As you ascend the canyon's eastern side, you'll get multiple viewpoints of the water plunging into the moss-covered depths.
Getting There
Drive from Reykjavik via Route 1 North, then turn onto Route 47 (Hvalfjörður). Follow signs for Glymur. Large parking lot at the end of the road.
